Great Music.

Pete TongCover of Pete Tong

I have always been a sucker for Great music.  This week I received three fantastic albums through the post.  I collect all the Disco Discharge compilations.  The latest one to come through my door is Euro Beats.  On this there is a cool track on disc 2.  It is the second track on disc 2 called Can't Hold Back by Kano.  This track is from 1982, and yet somehow I remember it well.  Also on this second disc, there is a track called We Gotta Do It by DJ Proffesor Featuring Zappala.  This track is from 1991, and it also featured in the very first Essential Selection.  Pete Tong heavily rotated it on many of his early Radio-1 shows.

The second compilation I recieved was In The Dark Of Night.  This is a Gothic compilation made up of many interesting acts.  There is a track by Faithful Dawn, which I've never heard before.  There is a neo-classical project on disc 1 called I...Deviant.  The I...Deviant track is called Darkness And Decay, and reminds me of Sopor Aeternus And The Ensemble Of Shadows.  But without the Varney type vocals.

The third compilation is called Still Dying In The 21st Century.  It collects tracks by female singers.  There is only one Gothic band I have heard from on the compilation.  The Goth band is called Pink Hearse.  It would've been nice to have an odd track by My Ruin.  Sometimes, I feel that compilations are not very well thought out properly.  Then sometimes, you get a fantastic collection of songs spread over two discs.
